[Letter] 1856 May 7, Richmond College, to [John Albert Broadus] / R. Ryland. 1856.

Wrote concerning the need for education of ministers: "The Theol. Ed. convention in Georgia was a failure. At least nothing was done. I am fully convinced that we should, by permission of the legislature, append a theo. chair to this college. Many of our students can't begin to go thro [sic] a course of higher classics and math--it is the best plan to have a collaterial course of popular theology for them to study so as to save them from the reproach of not graduating and to give them some positive materials to use in their sermons.
